Germans Cycles ACID Extreme (steel frame Columbus Zona tube set) with sockets for carriers. For offroad use a mountain bike is recommended
- Magura Vidar suspension fork
- Tubus Cargo carrier made from thin steel tubes
- Ritchey stem and bar, grips and bar ends are more important, who wants sore hands
- Shimano XT front hub and XTR rear hub 36 holes with 1,8/2,0 DT spokes and Mavic X618 rims. The wheels are the most important part after frame and fork. Mine were built by Werner Richter www.betterbike.de They have done 4000 km by now on and off road and are still straight and don´t have a single loose spoke
- Shimano XT V-Brakes with Diacompe levers
- Shimano LX/XT shifters, Grip Shift or RapidFire is a matter of personal taste. From the Grip Shifts I got sore ellbows in South America that´s why I use RapidFire at the moment
- Schwalbe Marathon XR tires 1.9 good compromise between low rolling resistance and off road abilities. The tires were good for 0,8 bar (12 PSI) on Sand without snake bites
- Schwalbe Extralight tubes, light and no problems
- Ortlieb Back Roller light
- Ortlieb stuff bag PS17 M for tent and Therm-a-Rest
- Spare parts: 10 chain links, tube, 10 patches, chain lube
- Tools: multitool, tire lever, strong chain breaker, pump
